Has anyone used aftermarket clipons?

http://www.bikegearwarehouse.com.au/Motorcycle_Parts_And_Accessories/37mm

like those?

how do you set the angles of clipons correctly? or am I just a n00b? :p

the honda ones have little notches on them, would that stop them moving too far away from the rider, or are they where the angles are meant to be.... if so... both of mine now are WAAAAYYYY off.....

you are just a noob...

but so am I

the switchgear has little nipple thingies on the inside of the clamps too to line it up on the bars, I guess you could just file them off though. your bike is going to be 100% blang by the end of your restrictions at this rate.

I can get my big boy licence in about 2 weeks man.. :p That will be my birthday present to myself :) need... time... argh!!![hr]
what are you still doing up? I thought I was the only insomniac on these forums...:D
join the club dude, sleep is for the weak, or the tired. I should really be in bed though, exam tomorrow morning and all. I figure if I don't sleep it will be fine though, who needs sleep anyway.

I've got a good three years ahead of me cramped up on a cbr250... damn you.

3 years wtfbbq?!?

I got my bike licence for my bday last year, my opens can be done in 2 weeks.... how the hell do you have 3 years?
NSW requires that I hold a provisional license for three years before I get my open license and the 'ability' to ride a more powerful bike.

not good man :-/

Good luck with your exam mate!
cheers, should be easy enough, it's just multiple choice so I won't need to do much thinking.

what keeps you up at these stupid hours of the day?
G
insomnia, stress, the usual. My sister is going to china for some amount of years on Thursday morning... it's playing on my mind a bit.

My veins feel like battery acid from the hiding I have been giving my body at the gym lately too hahaha
damn, that's something to think about, I didn't even consider how my brother felt when I left for England a few years ago...

I might be weird, but I kind of like the feeling of sore muscles after the gym, although it has been a few years since I stopped going now.

I'm sure this is why there is an irc channel for this forum....
G
Yeah, It's always inactive when I join the room though :-/
I haven't really looked into it, I wouldn't know where to start...

Edit: wasn't so hard, apparently banana.logic has been removed due to abuse though. those bastards.

HAHAHA... Thats ok, its on a yankee server anyhow... slow as balls.
I have Gilles Tooling ones (GP Lights). You can set the angle to whatever you want. I generally measure from the top of my rebound adjusters to the back of the tank cap to ensure that my headstem is dead straight, then turn my steering damper all the way up and measure from the tip of each clipon back to the back of the tank cap to ensure they're lined up equally.

Flaying out the clipons affects the handling of the bike in a big way, with mine a bit too far out the bike was nearly unridable (kept throwing the thing over ripple strips because it tipped in so absurdly fast)

Even Pedo bear likes the Clip on's.

Remember that counter steering and getting the correct arm and body position into a corner is the secret to nailing the apex. If you don't have this correct position - all sorts of side effects will come out including forced steering from having too much body weight or stiffness effecting the steering and bike lean angle.

So Clip on's are an important item in setting the bike up to suit your body. As Richo said - an over adjustment made the bike tip in too quickly, probably due to more input ability and sensitivity on counter steering.

But if you want some Gilles Tooling units, then come see me:newspaper:
Exactly right ^^ Flaying them out gives you much better leverage on the clipon and so in the right position (elbow down, pushing forward on the bar) the steering becomes very sensitive. If I wanted to ride with the damper turned up stupid stiff it would probably be ok, but when I brought them back in, my lap times improved a fair bit.

I recommend the Gilles kit really highly though, you can adjust them in seconds, as opposed to the woodcraft ones that are a bit of a pain to replace. Not to mention the Gilles weigh 3/5ths of fuck all
+1 to Gilles Gear.

Or is this just a way to post/product whore in one reply:p
do gilles do a 37mm clamp that will fit the 250 though?

They might do, but I dont have a universal application chart - only a make/model chart.

Then you have the difference between MC19 and MC22 Clip on's

But I wouldn't think so:exclamation:
