arrowmax + wet = scary

obviously lol. this is the closest ive come to a crash in around 25000ks

but i never really had a problem or a really wet day on them before.
turned out of the work driveway, got up to about 45 k's before a left turn.

seeing as the discs were still wet, and the tires were ice cold(sitting in the rain for 5 hours) i left about 50 meters to slow down.. gradually applying more pressure to the lever, but once i got to about 10 k's an hour, the front just let go. lucky for me, i got the foot down and kept it up just..

i still had 15 meters or so till the turn, so i was by no means grabbing the brakes or turning whilst braking.

ive never had a problem in the 3000ks on the stax, even thought about using the front for a track tire(lol) but this has just sent warning bells to me that i should get a new set.

is this really how how bad these tires are? id hate to think what would have happened if i wasnt actually taking it easy

hahaha i've got stax atm, and eventhough the rear tyre barely has any thread left, ive never slipped during turns
but thats probably coz most of the riding i do is on the highway and i never ride in too much rain

but when im going at 60 and i have to brake coz of the lights, thats when i experience my rear tyre losing control and the rear part of my bike swinging sideways

either way stax and rain dont go well together
im getting a new pair of rubber hopefully soon
i've lost it/locked up my stax too many times to even count now.
Funnily enough, none of my offs have been because of them.
thank god I never have to ride with them again.

next pay day im getting a set of bt45's. Ill write a review :)
i never had problem with them in the wet.. just gain more seat time and dont rest the weight on the handle bar and you'll be fine.. ofcoz check ur tyre pressure it's not like tooooo high.

The biggest problem with arrow maxes is that they are so hard wearing that often they have been on the bike for at least 2-5 years giving the fact that many of these bikes get sold or crashed before tires are needed.

Hence why they are so dangerous in the wet. This is why some people have no issue with them and others think that they explode if they get wet.

Good to hear that you didn't drop the bike though.
From what i read , that would have happened on any tire. Im not going to start baggin arrowmax but there are better tires out there. Its always beat to be on the best rubber you can afford.
theres always a story about these arrowmax tires ! hehe. i duno why people still get em thou

What so light braking in a straight line on any tire would cause the front to slide out?
I rode home yesterday form melb city to mill park in the pooring rain and had no issues.... Then again, they did catch on fire as such...
Just got me a set of these.... haven't had much chances to really scrub them out but even new, they still feel much better than those diamond hard arrowstax

i cant wait to get decent tyres come tax time, i have only ever ridden on stax, im keen to "feel" the difference everyones talking about.
Smeh. I love my stax. I'm also the kind of retard that gets excited when it starts raining the instant I get on the bike. Haven't had them try to kill me yet....
