Brendan, I'm not having a go at you here, I'm being genuine. If you're seriously getting worked up by an internet forum, to the point where it's impacting on your mental health and real life confidence, you need to walk away. Regardless of who is at fault in this thread you can't make other people change, why are you here doing this if you hate it?

Making an effort to turn over a new leaf and react differently to people is great but pointless if you can't sustain it. The only people who never get swiped at here are the people who stay out of arguments and keep their heads in, the rest of us deal with conflict in a way that doesn't turn the whole forum against us. You seem unable to deal with conflict without making things blow up, and considering the fact that you've told us what you think of us in no uncertain terms in the past and fueled every fire around you it's unrealistic to expect that people will start rushing to your defense when someone takes a swipe.

I understand that you were bullied at school and learned to stand up for yourself to stop it (I'm not trying to embarrass you by saying that, you've posted it here in the past), but unlike school you don't have to be here mate, one of the good things about becoming an adult is that you're in control of your own life and get to choose the people you have around you.

At the same time, why should brendan be the only one expected to behave like an adult? we don't need to bully him if we know how he will react. there is a slight difference between criticism and insult, and I have seen that quite a few of the claimed criticisms here have been couched in insulting language. not to say that I somehow agree with brendans reactions, but come on, it was a pretty predictable outcome wasn't it...

I definitely operate under a different standard of 'niceness' on the forum than in real life because I expect people to be able to put things in perspective online and not react emotionally and irrationally as people tend to do in real life when their buttons are pushed.

The way you reacted with Corkers is a perfect example of this, if he behaved in person as he behaved online you would have snotted him (or I would have for you :blush but online you just ignored it and moved on.

you originally came to me asking for advice over msn, at every point you resisted every single suggestion i had because you know better. you decided to fly cut the pistons even though i told you how thin the piston face is and how easy it is to hole them as is. i told you that changing the port geometry the way you wanted to was not an ideal thing to do and you decided to pay someone to do it anyway. then you started being a rude little cunt and i blocked you and you then started spouting your ideas on the forum and i for one did not want bad ideas flowing through this forum unmetered. i only ever interjected because i saw what you were going to/had done was not correct or the optimal solution for the outcome desired and felt that others should see the other side of the coin. but you [and surprisingly some 3rd parties it would seem] took that as direct assaults on you as a person rather than the specific aspect i was referring to.

i do find it ridiculous that it would seem that the only way to placate you is to let you do things that are not neccessarily as AWESOME as you have been led to believe, post it on the forum as the holy grail and let that stand as gospel without any critical evaluation whatsoever beacuse to criticise you at all is harrassment.

you are a child and have a lot of growing up to do, as suggested by many others, if you can't handle people with differing opinions then maybe you are too infantile for this forum...

and thats saying a lot considering the quality of the ppl around here lol...

Totally agree that if he is having this forum impact on his life then it is wise to not use it any more.

Edit: I don't know a lot of the back story or any of the shit that goes on behind the scenes so what I say is pretty much only based on what I have seen on the new forum.

i just read this whole thread front to back, now im not taking sides as from what i can see both sides of this are pretty set in their ways.
just a point of view from someone outside of all this shit and no reputation either way or "friends" on either side of the argument.

Humbug obviously wanted to share his project with us all and thats fine, good in fact, the more the merrier i say. But when people dont agree with what he does to his own bike he seems to get the shit bagged outta him and insulted. now i can see that this has happened before and has gotten a reaction outta him. but why keep trying to piss someone off? i'll admit i have done this before for a bit of a laugh, but that was in school guys.
It seems humbug had asked moot for advise via msn, obviously he had an intrest in moots opinion otherwise we wouldnt have asked. Any advise moot gave him is just that, advise, not direction unless he wishes to take it as that.

i can understand people getting frustrated if they dont feel what humbug is doing to HIS bike to be safe and or correct procedure to get his desired results but all anyone can do is offer advise, if he chooses not to take that advise, then so be it. after all it is HIS bike.

theres really no need at all for any of this insult bullshit, but sometimes ya gonna cop a bit from people here and there. take it with a grain of salt and move on.

but like its been said before everyone just needs to chill the fuck out (from both sides!) and let this project thread continue for those who are interested, and those who arent? leave it alone.
