Well I placed a deposit on a damaged 07 ZX10R

I think it was a silly buy and I ended making an offer because I got pissed off at ebay because I lost a phone auction but oh well. It will give me something to do on the weekends:)

$4500, Good buy or bad buy? I think it will be an easy fix.

I'll post my progress...

UPDATE 1: 8/6/2010

Well got it last Friday, I have removed all the damaged parts and am either fixing them or throwing them out.

So far everything mechanical is good, there was a cut indicator wire but that has been fixed. I have since bought a front nose cone and right side fairing for under $100 in red to save me some spraying/money although one is scratched and I'll touch that up. It also came with brand new Pilot powers still with the waxy stuff on it.

Here's a pic with everything damaged off (except the scratched tail).

Spent so far $4590

Still need:
Headlight
Gauge/mirror bracket stay
Rear sets
Steering damper
Left side fairing plus left belly pan
Rubber grommets and some bolts
Screen
VIV check
Aluminum radiator hose section
Overflow bottle

Fixin up for road or track?
Road - the other side of the bike looks bad but close up it has not got any munched up wires or marks on the frame. I'm hoping just a new set of fairings, lights, rear sets, and other little parts should fix it.

Do these come stock with a steering damper? I didn't seem to see one on this one:-/

pretty sure it does dude. and you can probably bet if it was removed prior to this crash, that it was the reason it's rashed up in the first place :p

Just replace it with any dampener you can get imo. Look at the mounts and fab an adapter if you need to.

Total waste of loot to replace it with the factory item imo.

would probably hurt resale if you replaced it with something with a shitter name.

Shitter name is all relative..

GPR/Scotts/Arrow/Ohlins/Hyperpro are all in roughly the same performance bracket.
