So I'm wondering if they are something to watch for the future, or are we seeing something akin to the Hyosung 650?

The latter. 57killerwasps and 175kg dry make it a slug. $13,990 makes it expensive. All the Brembo and Ohlins goodness in the world will not make up for those numbers.
Saw something about this awhile ago.
Looks fairly epic, powered by a hyosung engine? I thought the general consensus was that hyosungs were nuggety pieces of engineering fail?
Also arent the hyosung 650's LAMS approved stock? or are they modded to be LAMS?
Yeah we've been over this before. I thought they looked nice and everyone bagged them for being American, fat and expensive.
goin to wait for one to end up at the wreckers, buy it cheap and take as much of the parts as possible
Nah I wouldnt buy one. I could think of a stack more bike than that to blow my cash on. GPZ750E1 Turbo for a start :D

Thats sounds like a good enough reason to hate a bike to me.
I especially like this quote from their website
"The American hand built, liquid cooled, DOHC 8 valve V-Twin Sports Motorcycle"
The definition of hand built must have changed since I looked it up last.
And also
"The ONLY AMERICAN EXOTIC"
:newspaper:
I saw one up close at the last Motorcycle Show, it was on display so it may have been a "display only" non-production model and I kinda hope so for the sake of the manufacturer. It was really poorly finished and pretty rough around the edges. Hopefully that's not the case with the on-sale product or they're going to have trouble selling them...
looks alright, but is powered by a hyosung engine isnt it?

if it was powered by say, a suzuki sv650 engine, then it wouldnt be too bad..

at nearly 15k on road, ill pass thanks
isnt the hyosung 650 engine produced by suzuki anyway, or made by hyosung but designed by suzuki?

I'm sure I read somewhere that the hyo 650 engine is derived from an SV motor...
I've heard that one too. I suppose it doesnt matter who makes it or where its derived from, its the performance that matters.

I mean if a chinese manufactuer made a solid, stonking 2 stroke or 4 stroke motor with excellent reliability, I dont think anyone would care if it was made in China, only that it was teh awesome
designed by an ex suzuki person.

same as the honda vtr250 was pretty much nicked wholesale from ducati.

difference is, that honda had been around making reliable motorcycles for a few decades, whereas the hyosung really came out with their first bikes as the gtr.

having said that, the reliability of the hyosung has improved recently, when they moved over to efi according to some bike mag i read. Also, harley riders seem to think they are alright...
Could we see aussie bikie gangs riding them they only allow British or American bikes?

I reckon they look really good, I think the 4 big jap bike makers could have taken some notes from this before they made their 2010 bikes.
At least there'll be new blood in BEARS comps...
This thing has been around for about 9/10ths of for ever, originally they wanted to sell them with a supercharged aircooled harley motor, then they were going to go to the Rotax one, now they've obviously hooked up with Hyosung...
They would be the perfect bike for those guys who like the dropped, stretched, and chromed bling thing. They look great in stock trim and they can't ride the bikes fast so the engine shouldn't be an issue.
