Gday Lads.

Q for the Irish Members..

GG and I are planning to hit up the Emerald Isle to watch the NW RR or take a paddle to see the TT next year and was wondering what would be involved. This will good excuse to see a bit of the country that we missed out on last time..

Accomo prices, hire car, entry, traps etc?

Anyone from Oz looking to go next year?

+1 to all of that.
what time of the year are they on?

i'm planning to go to the japanese GP (hoping the schedule it for later in the season than early in the season) then head to portugal from there then up through spain, france then onto england. sure would like to check out the TT or Northwest.
i'm definitley going next year, missed out for one reason or another the past few years
Will give you the pro's & cons so you can decide for yourself mate.

NW200

- 1 Day event with 7 races on the day
- They are actual races so you can actually see the race as it happens (not time trials like the TT)
- Massive turn out (200k people) & you can get some real good spots to experience the speed
- Biggest sporting event in Ireland so full of non bikers too (Plenty of Bogans & the like)
- Piss easy to get to (200km drive from Dublin) & a cheap day out (cost nuttin but car fuel & camping)
- Bigger more glam version of the other Irish roads races really

IOM TT

- 2 week event but about 5 days or so of serious action
- No experience like it (biking heaven) Just bikes EVERYWHERE all the time
- Should really be on a bike to experience it properly (cars are totally outnumbered by 10:1)
- You can ride the Mountain section at speed safely
- Only like minded bikers there
- Races arent as exciting cos of the type of racing involved (time trials)
- Loadsa biking celebs there (Lorenzo, Capirossi, Agostini, etc.)
- Lots of other stuff to do (drinking, bands, carnival, stunts, etc.)
- Difficult & expensive to get to (only a couple of ferries to chose from)
- Camping costs a fair bit too

Both are great but I'd do the TT if I could. You probably need 3 days to get enough of a feel for it to justify the costs/travel.

Maybe this is a good year for me to finally go to the TT :)

*crashes party*
aye like Kenny said there is no cost in the NW200 bar the fuel to get there so if you where over here for long enough you could do both

next year the NW should be on from the Thurs 12 - Sat 14 of May and the TT will be Sat 26 May - Fri 10 June. if you timed it right you could be over here for the NW as we usually head up on the Friday and camp over night and watch the races the next day and then head home about 5 or 6pm. With the TT we have headed over for about a week, so if we headed over around the 28th May or earlier and stay till about the 3rd or 4th of June you will get in all the important races.

we priced it for this year and with us just bringing clothes and stuff and got a tent over there that was already erected would work out at about €420 or there abouts (that is the boat over included)....if you brought a tent it would work out at about €330 or so for the week....oh and whatever else you spend money on, but in fairness it's actually cheaper than ireland so it's a bargin. The boat itself is about £220 so that's the most expensive part!!

we drank a lot of can's and cooked food whenever we could....or more so whenever we had the energy or the inclination to do so.

we are hoping to get a few over for next year so yeah man get ur arse over this side of the world for some real bike racing.....manly stuff!!!! :)

I'm definetley going to the Isle of Man next year because I've missed it the last 2. So, if you're going to be there you're both welcome for a slut of the R1 to do a lap of the course.

see you are the split of mop head!!! just cause my day to day ride is only a 250 jay, doesn't mean i cant handle litre bikes!
That is true Zane, but you'll not be figuring out how well you can handle a litre bike, on my litre bike around the TT course.

I'm sorry lads but I just can't do curly hair. In fact I gave up on hair altogether when I shaved my head. I'd love nothing more than a big-ass afro but it's never going to happen :-(
well at least attempt the hair style like the bloke we saw....you would look savage!!!
defo TT for me next year :headbang:
gonna stick the bike in the back of the 5 star tranny hotel instead of tankbags and backpacks and shite, better than sleeping in a tent as well, be much comfier :D
WooHoo! Jesper is carrying all our gear next year!

Thanks Jesper....
