oh dear thats actually pretty funny, Im just imagining a facial expression of bewilderment followed by so horrified realization.

In answer to the question, Im fairly certain that the dipstick is just plain steel and you should be able to fish it out. Otherwise just pop the engine cover off.

I didn't think there was a dipstick in the oil cap.The oil is checked using the sight glass. The cap is only used for refilling.

The 250 doesn't have a sight glass, hence the dual purpose hole for filling oil and dipstick for oil level
