I just signed up to this forum.
I live on Vancouver Island, BC, W. coast of Canada
I think the cbr250 must be ahoot to ride. I had an RG250 ...it was a blast to ride for 20 minutes but the race position made me sore...too many crashes and car hits when i was younger, plus it was a 2 stroke.
So I saw a Jade for sale in Vancouver. It has a slightly detuned cbr motor.

Anyone know the Jade ? Are motor parts compatible ?
Its a rare grey market import here in Canada so I am looking for sources of parts before I buy it. My other option is to put higher bars on a CBR250, if i find one for sale.

Never heard of the Jade but you can't go wrong with CMSNL. :)
I've used them a few times and apart from the exchange rate they're spot on.

Your model should be on there hopefully.

I believe the Jade is a rebadged Hornet 250, depending on the market they were sold in. I've seen one as a grey import here in Oz, and it was a dead ringer for a Hornet.

In which case, yes, the engines are largely the same, although obviously tuned differently. cbrpledge may be able to shed more light on the differences, as he recently rebuilt a Hornet engine and stuck it in a CBR chassis.

Oh, and welcome!

Dodgy wiki entry...

The Honda CB250 Jade is an upright style version of the Honda CBR250. The CB250 Jade is the predecessor of the CB250 Hornet. The bike boasts a four-cylinder engine borrowed from a CBR250, front and rear disk brakes and a six-speed gear box. The Jade redlines at 16000 rpm, produces 40 bhp (30 kW) and has a 0-100 km/h acceleration of between 5 and 6 seconds (depending on how much the rider weighs).

i always believed that the jade was jdm.

the stock pipe is better than the cbr if you are after top end, maybe (never seen them in person), but ofcourse its using an mc14 engine... just like every other cbr250.

if you ever do need parts for it, especialy for the engine, using cbr250 parts would be like upgrades.

Thanks for all the replies.
This is an active forum !
I am glad that the cbr engine parts are compatible.
I'll probably make the purchase of the Jade, once I sell my Ninja 500 or my SV650.

Cool! throw up a pic of the ninja 500!
I did my bike test on a honda Jade, it was a jap import only in Ireland.
Great bike, loads of go in her.
I just rented it for a test but i was impressed.
They are a little susceptible to corrosion on the shiney bits so take care of them.

Here one is.

I like the red one, mine is olive, or it will be mine. I put a deposit on it...unseen but it sounds o/k other than maybe gummed carbs and maybe a rectifier problem. Windbell in Vancouver is selling it for the owner...they said I can ride home. Its the only one that I could find in western canada. I have been talking to the owner. He is selling because disability in his left hand prevents him from pulling in the clutch. Check out "jade raiding" video on youtube for an idea what they run like. Not quite as peaky as the cbr

My 500 is at http://comoxvalley.en.craigslist.ca/mcy/1730652634.html

I've got a Jade and I can confirm they run the MC-14 engine. Predecessor of the Hornet but still goes hard. Easily beats the 250 Hyosungs in a drag race.

I put about 260 km on my 'new' Jade. It howls ! It runs good with 1/4 throttle but does not help much to wack the throttle untill it is between 8 and 10, the power hit starts developing at 10. It is fun. It went up to 170 and still climbing. It wiggles in higher speed corners, maybe some spring stiffing will help, or maybe its the flexible steel frame ?
Still its light and more flickable thatn the SV650. I'll miss the SV on the high speed sweepers. But the gas consumption is way less and its more comfortable, and I really like the low center of gravity.
