I'm rebuild spare MC19 engine that had blown headgasket. Discovered probable cause, stripped head-bolt insert in block.

Has anyone replaced these inserts in block? With factory part?

I was thinking of using stuff commonly used for auto-engines like Time-Sert or EZ-lok. No Heli-coil type things that gets uncoiled next time bolt is removed.

thx

closest I've been to that was a stripped plug hole on a klx110. time-sert, went with time-sert because staking seemed like the best way to go. which part is a threaded insert? don't recall one when I tore down the mc22 engine

Iv'e repaired several stripped / helicoiled head bolt threads using either fatserts, or keenserts (can't remember which?)
I wouldn't contemplate using helicoils, they suck , even the double length ones do not hold.
I could have a look in the creation station to jog my memory which ones I ended up using if required (I have a few spares) although the special tool that comes with the kit was very brittle & chipped one corner
