G'day guys,

I would love to eventually get into racing so have started to do my research early to figure out what path I want to go down.

I would love to start by racing an MC22 but I can't find what class they fall into?

Classic Road Race Period 6 only allows bikes manufactured up to 1990 and Road Race only really covers 250cc bikes with maximum 2-cylinders.

What if I were to buy a 1993 MC22 for example, where would this fit?

Firstly your racing options depend heavily on where you live and how far you're willing to travel.

Regarding MC22's in Period 6 - they are period 6 legal - so long as it's the model with the larger inlets that was released in 1990 - I think it was the 94 model that came out with the smaller inlets and power was reduced from 45 to 40HP. Period 6 refers to the model release date - not the build date. The first of the MC22's were released in 1990, nothing changed in the model between 1990 and the power reduced model. If the Aus Delivered have the larger head then they would be legal as they would be unchanged from the 1990 model and therefore classied as a 1990 model bike. Hope this clears things up for you.

SEQ - Motorcycle Queensland
NSW - PCRA and St George MCC will give you plenty of racing.
Vic - Hartwell
WA has a couple of options too.

Cheers
Simon

thanks for the responses guys.

I am looking at racing with Hartwell and have sent them an email to clear things up. Glad to hear that there are 2 classes available to me.

Might head down to their next day at Broadford to see what people are running and ask a bunch of questions

Just got an email from Hartwell saying that the 300 club class is for anything upto 300cc, regardless of cylinders :D very happy with that. Going to go to their next round at Broadford to have a look around
