Well with Vale out up until August the question is, who will ride at Yamaha?

Burgess was quite striaght about the question in an interview.
There is no-one like Rossi, so it's just a case of getting a rider to ride the billboard for the sponsor!

Does Ben Spies deserve a shot at the factory bike?
Would it even make a difference to his results?

Who else for the mix?

They've already asked me and I turned them down.
Spies is probably the best option for the factory ride, but I wonder if there'd be issues with the Monster sponsorship given they're there thanks to the american riders (or rather vice versa).
More likely that a yam test rider will go out I think.
spies would def benefit from having JB working on his bike.. and that may still happen even if its under the tech 5 banner.. so is my prediction.

otherwise it will prolly be some AMA/WSBK yamaha rider i would say.

That would be fucking Sweet if they gave that bike to Spies for a few rounds.
Tech3 already have what is the closest to a factory bike they've had in years. Yamaha really wants a 123 finish and next year it's not at all out of the question.
Won't be Spies, he's under contract to Tech3. Toseland is the only one I can think of, but I doubt it. Wouldn't have a clue otherwise.

Well we know McCoy isn't doing anything of value anywhere
the timing for McCoy leaving FB Corse is quite suprising.

GlennR, yes Spies is with Tech 3, but the relationship between Tech 3 and Yamaha is very strong.
If Yamaha want Spies, you can be sure Herve will help them out.
Nah, it won't be Bayliss, he's still contracted with Ducati, Spies is contracted with Yamaha (CEII is contracted with Tech3) so he might get the call up, I've heard other rumours that Yuki Takahashi might get the nod as well as one of the test riders, Aoki or someone. But I'm hoping Mr Squiggle gets it! :D That would be awesome!!
Think it's a test rider.

I think the rules restrict rookies from riding for factory teams??

any word on this as yet?

Im thinking Edwards as he's worked with the team before & cause Peter will love it
According to Jeremey Burgess who commentated at Silverstone, he is plumping for Colin.

Why? Cause he knows the bike and is very unliekly to crash it. Each rider has only 6 engines this year, so if some n00b blows an engine or damages it in a crash, that reduces Rossi's engine count when he comes back. JB felt it would be nice for Colin to have a full factory bike for Laguna in what will most certainly be he last year in GP.

Spies, seems right, but JB felt that Spies in the factory team puts alot of unneccesary pressure on him, when he is gelling just fine at Tech 3 and learning the ropes.
^^^ JB is a very wise man! and no.. i dont mean jeebs :p
