Linkage for you
Anyone here every done this?
I went to the GP a couple of years ago and thought it looked like fun.
Dunno, do you have to do much work???
I'm assuming it is unpaid right?
Look in the thread captain
I remember that thread. He made it sound REALLY unappealing!
Nothing to do with me, I only asked if I could get in as a scrutineer... FBS02 rightly pointed out that it might be a bit unlikely if I don't have any other scrutineering experience :D
But you're drew... Did you tell them that you're drew? Surely that should be enough...

I'm just envisiaging myself screaming "I'm Drew!" down the phone Jerry Mcguire stylez and that panning out rather counterproductively for me :blush:
I have always wondered how scruteneering works in the top flight motorsports. The only stuff I have experienced are trackdays (kick the tyre, twist the throttle. get on out there) and f-sae tech inspection (can take up more than an hour, with a multitude of dudes going over every fastener).

Yes. Deliberately. Because if I'm out there marshalling, the last thing I want is to be stuck at a post with a bunch of whiny little fucktards (not that you are, Match, but you know what I mean) moaning about how it's actually hard work and not just a cruisy bludge. When you're out on the circuit picking up bikes during a race, your life literally depends on the other people at your point. I don't want anyone out there who isn't 100% motivated and 100% serious about what they're doing, because it's my arse that could get run over if they goof off. It's uncomfortable, tedious and dangerous. I'm not going to sugarcoat that.

I'm just a knuckle-dragger, Drew. I don't make the decisions. Give 'em a yell, you might be pleasantly surprised. I'm pretty sure they are fairly hard up for scrutineers, particularly on the Thursday before the race, when they're trying to look over all the bikes.

I got my letter in the mail the other day. We have until 30 June to register. There were a bunch of URLs on the bottom of the form, but none of them have links to an application form or even any information about volunteer officials. That is somewhat typical of the orgy-nisation (or lack thereof) that underpins the whole operation. But they're nice people and they try hard - that makes up for a lot in my book.

Vic Titles scrutineering was a bunch tighter than trackdays, but from what I understand at top level they're also checking compliance to the rules as well as trackworthiness.

I think it might be a bit more like "WTF? Why does the scrutineer want to talk to our engineers?"

Followed by;

"Fuck, are they still talking? The bike passed scrutineering about 4 hours ago".

:blush:
