Reigning seven time MotoGP world champion Valentino Rossi has been ruled out of the remainder of his home Italian MotoGP after being diagnosed with a fractured right tibia.

Rossi suffered a big highside in Saturday morning practice and the injury also is also a big blow to his 2010 title hopes.

The #46 has never previously missed a race, since his 1996 debut in the 125cc class.

This gives Rossi an excuse for not winning the championship this year. Lorenzo won't be too happy about winning without The Doctor to beat.
Really sux, as boring as it gets watching him at the pointy end all the time, he is a great character and an awesome rider. If he was to retire because of this it would be like a death in the family for motoGP :(

I really don't want lorenzo to win. All that lorenzo land bull crap grinds my gears.
its not really "winning it" if rossi's out for injury. although he did tear rossi a new one at le mans..?

hmmm, i thought it was a bit cocky when he did that, he hasnt really proven himself like rossi has to be doing shit like that. yeah he's fast, but he should win a few more races, then get cocky.
If it's his first major injury, hope it doesnt affect his racing mentality. Some racers just aren't the same after big crashes.
^^ I agree. this is a sad day in motogp racing :(

And now he won't be racing at either of the GPs I'm going to this year :(

But, yes it does mean chupachup will most likely win the championship :dodgy:

Hayden....

what?

''The operation on Valentino Rossi is over and everything went OK,'' said Dr Claudio Costa, head of the Mugello medical facility where the rider was first treated.

''The fracture was repaired without any complications and Valentino is already awake and smiling.

''Rossi was in surgery for nearly two-and-a-half hours. The surgeon Dr Roberto Buzzi has talked of four, five, maybe six months recovery. But as ever the diagnosis after the first few days is always important.''
well... interesting comment by JB just now "no one can replace valentino at the team.. we can put a lesser rider to use the bike as a billboard for the sponsors but wont be able to replace valentino".. thats a supportive crew chief!!!! :)

fingers crossed rossi comes back after this for few more seasons! he would be sorely missed! i dont have a problem with lorenzo cos he is a quick rider but it will be a lesser championship battle without rossi there. fingers crossed pedbot, hayden and dovi can maybe take the fight up to him...
everyone else watching? fuck those hondas are untouchable on the straight.[hr]
rode like a GOD, untouchable. battle for 4th was great. :D:D
DAAANI! DAAANI! i was really hoping he'd take it out, i was jumpin around my living room when he got pole.

fingers were crossed for stoner on that last lap.
and another interesting comment was about hayden coming off, kinda shows that its not all stoner contributing to his poor season so far. apparently other ducati's are having the same trouble too.
I was really hoping Randy would take 4th...

Oh well - Lorenzo was a fucking champ - the Rossi T-Shirt was a really nice touch.
yeah i thought it was good that all the guys gave rossi a mention in the interviews after the podium.
that was actually a really interesting motoGP race... maybe not for the lead but the battle for 4th was awesome!

de puniet and melandri... love it!

i wish spies won though
Bad luck to RDP :(
Great to see Stoner finding the finish line finally :)
When i saw hayden crash i thought it was stoner, there were a tense few seconds until the commentators confirmed it was hayden, was relieved but felt bad for hayden, he'd been doing well

What happened to Mika Kallio, noticed he didnt finish and didnt see him crash.
off tangent a bit, but who the fuck is Ben Spies Paddock girl?!?! fuckin smokin!

think he retired early due to his sore broken collar bone or something.
