I'm gonna say that I'll be doing commuting mostly with the occasional squirt in the hills on the weekend....[hr]richo said:+1
BT016, PP, 2ct, pilot pure, dunlop Q2.. all depends on what kind of riding you're planning on doing?
And it was a steal!dayeve said:Nice dude. That is a great find with such low km. It must have been left sitting for a few years.
Thanks! Very informative and spot on with your predictions!!King Kenny said:Power Pures are the latest & greatest mate - that's why they're a steep price. Probably overkill for you & will hurt your wallet.
What do you want to use the bike for? If for normal street use & weekend rides, commutes, etc. then I'd suggest Pilot Road 2's, Bridgestone 023's, Dunlop Roadsmarts's or Pirelli Diablo Stradas. They will see you 20k km, work in dry/wet & hot/cold & give you all the road grip you need.
If you want most of the above & wanna do some track days then standard Pilot Power, Pilot Power 2CT's, BT 016's, Pirelli Angel/Demons, etc. will see you right but you'll only get half the milage or less.
If you're into mostly pure track days or VERY fast road riding then you wouldnt need to ask us these questions & would probably have a newer/modified bike so lets presume you're not there yet.
BTW do think yourself or let anyone school you on getting ‘the best’ tyres for your bike. The ‘best’ tyres are the ones designed to suit the application you want to you use the bike for. For instance a race tyre does indeed offer the most outright grip but only if they are properly up to working temperature. The takes a highly skilled & FAST rider to do in the 1st place & the tyres as such as treacherous in wet/cold conditions. Sports tyres work well in all conditions & still offer great grip ,which to be frank if your relatively new to riding, will be far above you current & foreseeable future abilities. You pay the price for them in longevity though & may only last 5-10,000km. A Sport touring tyre will last 15-20,000km with 95% of the outright grip of a Sports tyre but they overheat quickly at the track. However they do work well in all conditions all of the time.
Just to let you know that I could not get the better of the Michelin Pilot Road 2 Sports Touring tyre on the roads in Ireland on my CBR954RR & went just as fast on them as on Michelin Pilot Powers & I’d be one of the quicker road rider on the forum (back then anyways!). They never spun up on me & I could get my knee down at will on the road. Plus they worked great in the cold & at 150kph through the twisties in the wet.
Don’t fall into the trap of think a Sports touring tyre is second rate that’s all I’m saying.
