Picked this up about a month ago. Couldn't resist!!

GSXR 600 10/2000.... First of the EFI  13,000Ks.... And a Remus exhaust that makes the most wicked rumble.

Still haven't had the time to get decent pics but these camera phone ones aren't bad :p

Enjoy!

Still have the ciblet though....

Nice wheelz mate :)

Do yourself a favour & get those shit Dunlops off & put fresh, decent sytres on before you have a whoopsie when 'extracting some performance' from the bike. Seriously they are the shittest tyres around & were terrible even when they were new & l'leading edge'. Now most sport touring tyres are heaps better in every respect including high performance.

can't really go wrong with standard pilot powers these days... standard PP's are nice and affordable at only $399/set at most bike shops, and they will be fucking worlds ahead of the rim protectors you've got on there right now, especially since you said something mid range in price.

Otherwise the BT016's are nice but theyre a bit more exxy

BT016, PP, 2ct, pilot pure, dunlop Q2.. all depends on what kind of riding you're planning on doing?
I'm gonna say that I'll be doing commuting mostly with the occasional squirt in the hills on the weekend....[hr]

Nice dude. That is a great find with such low km. It must have been left sitting for a few years.
And it was a steal!

Anyway been googling and can't find much on where to purchase... Any suggestions for this? I'm in Melbourne on the East side *insert gangsta pose*.....

Update: Just rang someone and for Power Pures (predecessor of the Pilot Power) it was $530 fitted and balanced?? Sounds a bit steep.. Any tips?

Power Pures are the latest & greatest mate - that's why they're a steep price. Probably overkill for you & will hurt your wallet.

What do you want to use the bike for? If for normal street use & weekend rides, commutes, etc. then I'd suggest Pilot Road 2's, Bridgestone 023's, Dunlop Roadsmarts's or Pirelli Diablo Stradas. They will see you 20k km, work in dry/wet & hot/cold & give you all the road grip you need.

If you want most of the above & wanna do some track days then standard Pilot Power, Pilot Power 2CT's, BT 016's, Pirelli Angel/Demons, etc. will see you right but you'll only get half the milage or less.

If you're into mostly pure track days or VERY fast road riding then you wouldnt need to ask us these questions & would probably have a newer/modified bike so lets presume you're not there yet.

BTW do think yourself or let anyone school you on getting ‘the best’ tyres for your bike. The ‘best’ tyres are the ones designed to suit the application you want to you use the bike for. For instance a race tyre does indeed offer the most outright grip but only if they are properly up to working temperature. The takes a highly skilled & FAST rider to do in the 1st place & the tyres as such as treacherous in wet/cold conditions. Sports tyres work well in all conditions & still offer great grip ,which to be frank if your relatively new to riding, will be far above you current & foreseeable future abilities. You pay the price for them in longevity though & may only last 5-10,000km. A Sport touring tyre will last 15-20,000km with 95% of the outright grip of a Sports tyre but they overheat quickly at the track. However they do work well in all conditions all of the time.

Just to let you know that I could not get the better of the Michelin Pilot Road 2 Sports Touring tyre on the roads in Ireland on my CBR954RR & went just as fast on them as on Michelin Pilot Powers & I’d be one of the quicker road rider on the forum (back then anyways!). They never spun up on me & I could get my knee down at will on the road. Plus they worked great in the cold & at 150kph through the twisties in the wet.

Don’t fall into the trap of think a Sports touring tyre is second rate that’s all I’m saying.

Thanks! Very informative and spot on with your predictions!!

At the end of the day it is the tyre between you and the road and I know little about tyres so........ fuck it! I have booked in to get Pilot Road 2's on Saturday! $520 fitted and balanced.... OUCH!!

And I'll keep the Dunlops for when I sell the bike :D

Good man Matt - you wont be disappointed or have an acco due to shoody tyres now!

Just for your reference Performance bikes did a test a few years back where they sent 'The Baron' (an ex Racer) around the Nurburgring on road bikes (Ducati Monster, Buell Lightnig 1200, that sort of bike) fitted with BT-021 Sport Touring tyres & did lap times just under 8mins. To put thiat in persepective the Supersport 600's on race tyres did high 7min 30's so that's only 20sec down or 1sec per km (Nurburgring is about 22km).

That was all at racing speeds obviously so it really shows how good the tyres are & they are the previous generation. You Pilot Road 2CT's are ven better.
