last month my mc19 fuel pump is broken so i went to the repco n buy a universal fuel pump for $138 (i read the old forum n people say it work), i connect it to the bike but it wont start, so i take it down to the mechanic cause i didn't know what else to do with it, after i take it to the mechanic my bike is fine but every time i hit 10 grand it dogged out (no power) so i ring my mechanic n they say its my fuel pump,so i was thinking changing it this month but before i change it i open her up n the fuel pump is not mounted so i mounted it n the bike still dogged out but is on 14 grand and sometimes it hit red, so i thought i could be the fuel line, i change it and it still dogging out, i change the fuel filter and hopping it help, i take her for a ride but after a couple of minute the bike die like it has no fuel, i push start the bike and it wont start so i change it back to the old fuel filter and its start so im like wat the hell, the bike start now but every times i hit 4th gear and put it down to like 3rd or second gear, i can feel the bike is losing power and if i put it down to 1st gear the bike just die. i dont know what else to do with it?, is it the fuel pump or carbs? should i just buy a new fuel pump, can some1 help me im really stressing about. this. thanks

Make sure none of your fuel lines were pinched when you put the tank on.

Justin.
Mind being a little more specific than "dogging out".
I mean, I assume that means it feels like it's losing power - but what's the sensation like? Sudden? Slow? Smooth loss? Shaky loss? This is all important information.

Sir.b hit it with the pinched lines, but that'd be my thought on why the change of fuel filter stopped the bike running.
Beyond that I'd say you've either got the wrong psi fuel pump (should be 2-3psi or there abouts), shit in your carbies, oooor a loss of pressure somewhere in the system. Check your fuel hoses, breather hoses and airbox breather.
Hi Ivan,
I have been experiencing the same issue with my bike over the past couple of months. Many trips to the mechanic have not been able to diagnose it.
Does your bike slowly lose power and revs until it completely dies? and once it dies does the bike have enough charge to start back up again?

Hi Mitch,
Was just wondering if you have figured out the cure for this problem because i have also been having the same problem. After about 30-45 mins of riding i get that instant drop of power and revs and the more you twist the accelerator to speed up the quicker it dies. Once it dies i can not restart it again. My bike has not been fixed and awaits going to mechanics :(.

Hey Azz do you work on St Kilda rd?
Have you guys checked the fuel filter inside the tank?
If it's clogged up, it's gonna cause surging / running out of fuel issues...

How easy it to remove the petcock  from the tank?

It looks like it just unscrews?
MC19 doesn't have a fuel filter in the tank...
