This is the perfect thread to ask the question about service days.

What do people think when they hear the word service day?

Is it, "Great, I'm broke and I have no idea, but my bikes a mess, so I'll get fixed for free".

or, "Gee, I just want some one that knows what they are doing to supervise/teach me fixing my bike"

So I basically see 2 types of people attending a service day and I do think that they can work really well if some basic needs and communication are dealt with the start.

Here are some basics that need to be address for any service day.

-Noob to guru ratio. No greater than 3 to 1.
-Booking essentials and want you want to fix.
-Having dedicated work stations and tools for various jobs.
-10am starts are too late. 8am start, hands on by 8.30am. Your late, you loose the chance.
-No new work to commence after 1pm.
-Committed food person/money grabber.

I think that sounds reasonable, given the apparent madness of the last service day.

Define guru...

At this point I'm not sure where we can hold it. One of my friends said the last one was at St Marys, but I have no idea how much it would cost to rent a workshop. I don't have any contacts so I have no idea what I'm doing haha :s

Ah crap, wish I'd known about those Unifilters earlier, just got a HiFloFiltro for my MC19 and although it seems to be a good quality filter, it was the same price and isn't reusable/cleanable.

On servicing, I'd be happy to help out as long as a date gets locked in on a weekend. Tools, experience, etc.
