Well I've just came back from a holiday to find out that there will be a change in the prices for CTP on a motorcycle. I've read on another forum that it will be grouped from 100cc to 225cc,and then 226cc to 725cc and so on. This makes a significant rise in prices for some of us 250cc riders, but lowers the price for those on bigger bikes.

Apparently the change is to take effect from 1st of July which is less than a month away. I have done a few quotes online and have found that the current price for the cbr250 is $252.60, whereas the new price will be $467.32 per year. Over $200 difference. Sounds a little unfair.

Has anybody found any more information on this? I've searched around but been unsuccessful.

I guess this is another reason to get a bigger bike too.

that sounds fucking gay if it is true. But an increase at just under 50% sounds much to high.
I haven't heard anything about it, but would be curious to know the reason behind it.

Something that I have heard today was that for a period of time there will be an increase in the amount you pay for speeding fines to get NSW out of debt. This may or may not have something to do with it :S

It's been mentioned on a couple of forums I'm on, but since I'm in Vic I haven't paid too much attention.

Someone a few days ago mentioned that while they couldn't find any direct source they could see a clear difference in price when they obtained an online quote before and after July 1. Not sure if this is your RTA site of something different, as the RTA want me to log in to get to the calculator.

I had a quick search but I can only find a few articles and sites discussing the new tax.[hr]
Oh, and its not only motorcycles, but all vehicles.

Last night I thought I would uninstall quicktime because I never use it, but I found out pretty quickly that you need it for itunes. This led to a long process trying to get itunes working properly again for some reason.

overall I don't sleep well though.

i think its time for everyone to start hitting up the motorcycle council to get some answers. this is clearly a money grabbing scheme as there are no 225cc bikes out there (maybe scoots but thats about all). and why is it that a motorbike CTP is now the same (or in my case more!) than what i would pay for a car?

This is the same for everyone I think. My car CTP has always been less than my bike, regardless of the car.

I get my pay frozen and bonus scrapped and shit like this happens. Struggling as it is.

I originally saw it on the netrider forum but they do talk a lot about dirt bikes on that thread.

My CTP would be due in august so i will fall into the new prices which suck. Now I'm considering upgrading to make it more worth it. I'm thinking CBR600 F4i or a the CBR954 =)
