oil in my airbox
as the title says, i've got oil in my airbox, i would say a bit too.
any ideas on why and what i can do to get rid of it?

why:- There is a hose connected from the top of your motor to the airbox, so oil does have a path to the airbox under your filter. If you drop it on right side, you may end up with more in there.Scotty said:as the title says, i've got oil in my airbox, i would say a bit too.

what:- get a rag and wipe it up, don't spray anything in your airbox that you don't want to end up in your engine.

Yes it could be that the bike had been dropped, but here's some other reasons why.
-Too much oil. Common error regarding oil dipstick checking.
-Blow by. Worn rings allow too much by pass into crancase then up through camshaft cover.
-Incorrect or old oil used. Example too thin.

Clean it out with carb cleaner.
Check oil like Richo said.

sorry, my bike is a GSXR 750, it hasn't been dropped, i used the correct oil when i last did my oil change.
i have wiped it out but i was meaning what should i be looking at to stop it doing it again.
the only thing i can think of is perhaps to much oil as i put about 100ml to much in but i wouldn't think that was over filling it causing it to end up in my airbox.
the bike is running fine and doesn't blow any smoke.
i've cleaned it and i'll check it in a weeks time like paul said.

Too much oil will dump out the crankcase breather.
Also, it turns out (as I learned from my celica) that if you do 80,000 clicks on one fill of oil it gets so lumpy it blocks the galleries and pumps the entire contents of your sump onto your air filter and subsequently seizes

what sort of air filter do you have? if its a K&N type then they need to be oiled to work. could be someone put too much oil on it after cleaing causing it to drip.

Seriously though, that car was to be honest a bloody testament to Toyota.
Bought a 82 celica for $800 dollars. It had 4 new tyres and a full years rego (about $1200 right there, so basically I got 2 free tyres, and the rest of a car thrown in for nothing).
Spent (literally) nothing except fuel on the car for about 9 months. It died a few times, but on the whole didn't give me issues, and evidently drove around for some time without any oil pressure whatsoever (long story, but it turns out that my diagnoses of "faulty oil light, don't worry about it" might have been premature) and STILL took a while to sieze. And even after that it ran on 3 and moved under it's own power.
And I got $110 for the corpse. Fucken ace car.
I bought a (1990?) 1.6 litre Corolla back in the day with 320,000k's on it (ex driving school car). I rallied it, redlined it, cooked the brakes, slam shifted to the point of chirping tyres, and pretty much everything else I could to break the fucking thing. Like you, I didn't spend a thing on it, had it for about 2 years and when I sold it it ran 100% the same as when I bought it. Fucking unbreakable.
