QLD licence holders

So QLD licences are going up. QLD is going to be the most expensive state to ride in. Below is the info and link to the government website, to sign the petition against this.

Personally I think it's BS... if they need more $$$, why aren't cyclists, who now have more road rights, paying rego ?

********************************
Queensland residents draw to the attention of the House the Government's proposal to double the cost of Queensland Drivers Licences to more than $150, making Queensland licences the most expensive in the Nation. These changes, along with hikes in vehicle registration costs, the new State fuel tax, and above CPI increases for tolls make Queensland the most expensive State in Australia to be a motorist.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to oppose this massive increase in Queensland Drivers Licence charges.

Done.

Its all a cash grab by Anna-conda. She'll swallow the whole state
I'm not voting, qld licences are going up but we're finally getting actual proper licences that are chipped too, not a laminated piece of paper.

It's still way more expensive to live and ride in NSW, even with this fail premier here in QLD
I don't think they should charge cyclists rego.
That is rubbish!

Why not? Motorised scooters for the elderly on foot paths need to be registered. Designed for walking speeds. They don't go half as fast as some of cyclists who utilise the roads same as moto riders & drivers do.

They have the same rights as a vehicle when there is no bike lane available.

Why does everyone else on the road pay but them?
Because it's a damn pushbike. Everyone is whinging about equality but where does the line stop? I mean when I have a kid I don't want to have to pay rego and insurance just so they can ride to school. Or rollerblade. Or skate. Soon we will need pedestrian permits or something to go out, to reduce the foot traffic in major urban areas... As shitty as cyclists can be I think trying to charge them is the wrong way to go. My ¥2

+1
I drive a car and I know how shit it is to be stuck behind lycra clowns on the road.
I also ride a pushy to work and sometimes feel that cyclists get a raw deal either way. Yelled at by pedestrians for riding on the footpath. Honked at and nearly run down for riding on the road.

The people in power should be encouraging MORE people to ride bikes. Less emissions, less congestion, less fat fuckers, less reliance on fossil fuels. It all makes sense... until the stick a price on owning a pushbike (rego).

I understand your argument BriZer (especially about license fees going up) but I hope they NEVER decide to charge rego on pushies.

:D
The question us motorcyclists should be asking is not why cyclists aren't being charged rego, but why we get charged so much rego on motorbikes.
