I've got a whinning /whistling sound coming from the bike. The exhaust is too loud to really tell where it is coming from exactly. It gets louder the more throttle you give. It does it in neutral and in gear, stationary or moving. Link for the audio

it's only a really small file not sure on how the sound comes out. But any ideas or suggestions on what it could be welcome

It's my first bike so I can't be sure if it's normal but it never used to happen when I first got the bike. It's the sound you hear right after the exhaust sound. I'll check out some on YouTube
that would be the sound of your engine. not the exhaust sound but the noise created by all the moving parts inside your motor. if it seems louder the what it normally is then check your oil.
You can't really hear it on this file. I'll try getting more audio. Sorry I used my phone to record it[hr]

I checked the oil the other day. It was good. Oil is clean and at a good level.

how old is it?
how does the oil feel? clean oil doesn't always mean good oil

I assume you mean the oil? I've only had the bike for a couple of months. The guy that I bought it from said he serviced it about a month before I bought it, but he had only riden it a couple of times. But I can't really go by what he says[hr]

It's not as thick as car engine oil. But not too sure what you mean by how does it feel? Bit for a noob to bikes. What should a good oil feel like?
I couldn't hear much. Maybe get a better recording. Have you checked your supercharger? They usually whine/ whistle pretty loud.
Clean oil is usually bad oil. One of it's jobs is cleaning the engine, so if your oil is clean it's not really doing the best job.

So maybe an oil change with some good quality oil could help you out, who knows what crap the guy chucked in there.
My bike and my friends sound like that without the rattle
I love that sound; sounds like you are riding a bike from the future :D

And yeah, also sounds normal to me too.
its either the noise of the pulse generator, stator or the straight cut gears spinning.

i like the sound of it too, but worried that something isnt as it should be and might cause bigger issues later on[hr]

how do i go about finding out which one it is? any way to test them?[hr]
i took the fairings off today to try to pin point where exactly the noise is coming from. had no luck. but i did notice that there are gaps where the exhaust bolts into the engine, is this normal. i dont know if its leaking cause of the gaps but could explain the rattle. does anyone else have this on their bike? is it normal?

also there is a thing that is sticking out of the engine block just under where the exhaust joins the engine. it has a hose coming out of it. the one on my bike has what looks like silicon all around it. looks like a really bad home job done by previous owner i assume. dont know why its like that but also doesnt seem normal to me. could the whinning sound be coming from that? maybe a pressure leak? (stab in the dark i know.....)

i believe the noise is normal, if its the straight cut gear primary gear (on the crank) it sounds normal, the same type of noise when a cars in reverse, it uses straight cut gears then.

that gap is some type of gasket/seal to stop exhaust leaks when the gas transferring from the port to header pipe.

could be a breather, photos would help.

I put a photo in the original post. I circled the gap.
i meant photos of your silicon jobby.

I don't think it's a breather though. It has a thick hose, bit smaller than the radiator hose coming out of it. Don't remember where it went though. Will check it tomorrow
my cbr250r 1988 has made the same noise from day one since i had it sounds normal to me sounds like a supercharger ;-)
