[WTB SYD] Helmet Lock for MC22

2403 Views 8 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  dayeve
Now that I'm going to the city lots and I have hardly any room to put my gear.

I wanna lock my helmet "Shoei XR1100" onto my bike but I don't just wanna lock the straps, want to lock under the helmet through the visor.

Anyone had any good helmet locks or experience with one?

i used to lock my helmet with one of those heavy duty wire cables covered in plastic that you can buy from bunnings.

i just used to put my helmet on my mirror then run the cable through my helmet and through my triple clamp, very secure and i never had an issue.
Would you lock the helmet with the visor still on it?
i always did but the thought of some scum bag stealing your $100+ tinted shoei visor made me think i should of been putting my visor under my seat....but of course this was on my cibbie and a didn't have access to my underseat compartment.

for piece of mind i'd say stick your visor under your seat or take it with you.

the gixxer has a good helmet lock and my visor goes under the cowl whenever i leave it somewhere.
thanks scotty
i always feel like some fucker could come along and knife your helmet if you left it somewhere unsecured... you'd have to be a right asshole to do it, but thats all it would take for your lid to be ruined...
that's true, there is a specific pouch that you can get that attaches to your rear seat that you can open and put your helmet in then secure it closed.

i can't remember where i saw them, maybe at the WSBK expo and i can't really remember how much they were.

at the end of the day, your bike itself is as vunerable as leaving your helmet attached to it.

in all the time i've left my helmet on my bike i've never had an issue.

If you find out send us a pm :D
I prefer to take my helmet with me. At least people know I ride and don't think I'm some tragic that won't let go of the 80's fashion by wearing padded leather jackets.
I also use it as a basket at coles to do any light shopping.

I would highly recommend you taking your helmet with you. If someone did try to steal your helmet by using force and it was locked up they way you describe. The helmet will may be structurally damaged even if there is no obvious visible and you would be none the wiser if they were unable to steal the helmet.
