How to make plastics look like new?

As the title says I am wondering how I can go about getting the plastic pieces on my bike looking new again.

I am talking about the air ducts, chain guard and the bottom of the tail assembly
At the moment they look really dull and more a pale white than black.

Any suggestions will be much appriciated

Thanks

I'm affraid armorall would not work if your fairing has a clear applied to it. If the paint is sun burnt, there is nothing you can do to make it look better, except spraying it. Armorall or Polyglase do a wonderful job on air ducts, chain guards or any bare black plastic. As K916 said, it will make the plastic glossy, but it is temporary anyway.

Yes. I have your answer.

If what you want to do is rejuvenate black plastics that are starting to perish and turn a kind of crystalised grey, then you need this stuff.

I got talked into buying some by a chick at Supercheap Auto and she wasn't even hot. It's not cheap (about $13 or $18 a bottle and you need to use it liberally) but it works miracles. It hasn't worked for absolutley everything but I've only had one part that didn't return shit hot results (it was still a big improvement though). It will especially transform your switchgear and make it look a decade younger. Give it a bash.

Ontik on the forums should chime in on this one. he recommended a product a while back that brought his dull greying plastics back to a lustrous black!

Is it called "Gold Class Trim Detailer" and look like this by any chance?

I think I may have developed an ability to see into the future!

If you do go the spray can route, use the paint that is specifically intended for plastics, it is called Krylon. It should be available at any auto parts supply store and comes in almost every colour you could want. This stuff actually bonds to plastic extremely well.
Spidey I'm surprised that a "restoration expert" of your calibre can recommend a cheap fix like plastic paint

+1 to meguiars trim detailer. Works very well.

Wet look tyre shine also works very well on faded plastics but does not last as long as the trim detailer does. I have found that armour all works in the short term but the fading happens faster and comes back worse.
